By positioning it towards a central point, or towards the parts of the home that mostly used by wireless clients, you can help make sure that your users have the best experience possible. With the newest technologies in WiFi, the antenna position is critical to the performance of your network. Many newer routers have numerous antennas, their position will help determine the propagation of the wireless signal. Being able to minimize the attenuation by raising the position of your router can go a long way towards more stable and faster wireless connections. In the case of a two-story home, this may also add to the coverage on the second floor. If it can’t be raised above table height, at least try to position it clear of obstacles in the immediate area.
